The Banker Arrives at the Guild Hall

An annual Flameborn celebration has once again ended with damaged furniture, missing mead and a suspicious amount of fire. Family representatives insist everything proceeded exactly as planned

Visitors to this year’s Gathering are advised to keep a close eye on their purses, pouches and pockets, as the mysterious Banker has officially taken up residence within the Guild Hall.

Tasked with managing the fortunes of the three great families, the Banker will accept tokens earned through quests, challenges and acts of service throughout the day. Every token deposited will strengthen a family’s claim to the Thorned Crown.

However, those expecting a noble servant of the realm may be disappointed.

Sources close to the Guild Hall describe the Banker as a creature whose loyalty belongs not to any family, but to coin itself.

Whilst perfectly happy to accept token deposits, the Banker is also known to offer games of chance to passing visitors. Some have reportedly doubled their fortunes. Others have left with considerably lighter purses and a valuable lesson about greed.

Representatives of The Withered, The Flameborn and The Nightweavers have all expressed concerns about family members risking hard-earned tokens on the Banker’s schemes.

The Banker, when approached for comment, simply smiled and replied:

“A coin in the hand is pleasant. Two coins are better. Why not see what happens?”

The Unseelie Gazette recommends caution.

Or recklessness.

After all, what’s the worst that could happen?
