The Unseelie Gathering Returns

On the first day of August, creatures from every world will once again descend upon Paisley for the annual contest of the Thorned Crown. As tradition demands, the Withered, Flameborn and Nightweavers will gather beneath one roof to settle old scores, forge new alliances and compete for the honour of ruling until the Gathering returns.

Bookmakers across the realm are already taking wagers, though opinions remain divided. The Flameborn are expected to arrive in force following last year’s disappointing finish, while rumours suggest the Nightweavers have been quietly preparing for months. The Withered, as always, have declined to comment.

Visitors arriving at the Gathering will be required to pledge their loyalty before crossing the threshold. Once sworn, every quest completed, challenge overcome, secret uncovered and alliance formed will contribute to their family’s standing.

Not everyone attends for glory, of course.

Many come simply to trade stories, browse the merchants’ stalls, enjoy an evening in the tavern or watch the inevitable family rivalries unfold from a safe distance. Experienced attendees have advised newcomers to do the same.

As is customary, officials of the Court have remained silent regarding this year’s contest. However, several sources close to the Crown have hinted that this may be one of the most fiercely contested Gatherings in recent memory.

Whether such rumours prove true remains to be seen.

One thing, however, is certain.

When the final points are counted and the Thorned Crown is raised before the assembled families, only one banner will fly above the rest.

The Unseelie Gathering takes place on 1st August, 11am–5pm, at Paisley Town Hall.

Those yet to choose a side are advised to do so quickly.
